What We Do

PRINTING

Hillis Printing produces brochures, stationery packages, presentation folders, data sheets, booklets, mailers, die cut pieces, foil stamped and/or embossed pieces, etc. We use one to six color sheet fed presses that allow us to accommodate sheets up to 20” x 26” in size for longer run 4 to 6 color projects. Smaller presses are used to economically produce shorter run 1 or 2 color jobs.

We are Eco friendly and are always looking for ways to conserve resources and help the environment. We commonly use recycled paper and soy based inks. Our waste is recycled whether it be paper, chemicals or plates. The stock used for “make-ready” on your printed projects is even reused for multiple runs. These efforts enable us to help save natural resources and the environment.

PREPRESS

We are an Adobe Authorized Service Provider and pride ourselves on staying on the cutting edge of technology with both the hardware and software needed to be competitive in today’s market.

Our online FTP site allows you to upload your files directly from your desktop, just drag and drop files, no proprietary software needed. Personalized sites are password protected for your added security.

For press accurate color proofing we offer Epson Stylus Pro 9800 Matchprint color proofs. Both the press and the proofer have been calibrated to the same tolerances to ensure accurate color. We also offer virtual PDF proofs as well as b/w lasers, first article proofs and low res color proofs for projects that fold or collate.

Digital Files

When providing digital files, please use the following checklist:

  • Always provide laser proofs or PDFs of all files for comparison purposes. If folding or die cutting is required, please provide a folding dummy or dieline.
  • Print the directory window of each disk submitted. Always back up your work and send copies of original files.
  • If you are submitting a PDF file for print, please be sure it is hi-res, saved in the correct color space (CMYK or SPOT color – NOT RGB!) and that all fonts are embedded. It is also important to include bleeds and trim marks.
  • Make sure that all supporting graphics (both Vector and Raster) are included on the disk.
  • Supporting graphics should be saved in EPS, TIFF of JPEG formats.
  • Be sure to include all fonts. Provide both screen and printer fonts.
